Hickey - 96 Grand

A boutique in the Historic Cast Iron District of Soho, NYC, the Hickey Menswear Showroom is a gut renovation retail space. To begin with a blank canvas, the superfluous elements in the existing space were stripped away to reveal the austere beauty of the original late 19th century industrial setting. Several "found object" props were procured and arrayed throughout the space to complement the rugged cast iron aesthetic and provide a coherent backdrop for the merchandise. A central rustic table and corresponding hovering ceiling plane form the central armature of the space. Besides its primary use as a display surface, the table can also serve as a fashion runway or banquet table at various private evening events.

This work is a collaboration between Conklin Costantin Architects and Rick Biedel of Studio XL graphic designers.
