Harlem Apartment Renovation
NYC
The Owner of this Harlem apartment is an ardent collector of Folk Art and "found object" artifacts. The existing rambling apartment in this pre-war Art Deco building had all the original features and layout, but was in desperate need of help. Because the apartment was in such bad condition, and because the layout did not make efficient use of the well-lit space, it was decided to gut the apartment, and to design a new apartment that recalled the character of the old. Accommodating the extensive collection of folk art was an important consideration from the start of design to the completion of the construction.
